En Recuerdo de: The Dying Art of
Mexican Cemeteries in the Southwest
This project is about culture, change, and the loss of cultural personality. It is a record of the past, memory in images of the dying of the culture of craftsmanship as seen in the Mexican cemetery in the United States.
The Mexican culture is itself a mixture of cultures, expressing “the fluidity of culture,” according to author Richard Rodriguez. For me, the history of the Mexican people is first and foremost a visual history, from the carvings of the Aztecs to the crafts of modern day. Artistry and craftsmanship blend to mark their awareness and their gift. Over 100 images will illustrate the book. Here are a few. (Published by the University of Nebraska Press. Fall, 2014)
